From the Campaign Trail
On Tuesday night, consultant Sarah Taber, the Democratic nominee for Agriculture Commissioner, joined a Spaces hosted by Rep. Wiley Nickel to discuss her efforts to oust Commissioner Steve Troxler. During this interview, Taber asserted that grocery stores across North Carolina are systematically overcharging consumers by rigging their weight scales.
This is a serious charge. It’s illegal for stores to skew their scales to overcharge consumers deliberately. But Taber, as usual, presents no evidence to back up her salacious accusations. Instead, she gossips with fellow progressives, making vague, unfounded accusations against staples of North Carolina communities.
Nationally, as a critical defense of Bidenomics (Kamalonoimcs?), politicians have falsely attacked companies over alleged price gouging when the recent inflation resulted from their own policies. Taber is running the same playbook in North Carolina. She’s hurling wild accusations at North Carolina grocery stores to distract from how her policies would dramatically increase food prices across the state. More to come on that subject in the coming weeks.
