EPA Approvals Deliver New Crop Protection Tools for Farmers

| Friends, This week, we want to briefly highlight another major win for farmers on crop protection tools. Last month, the NC Ag Partnership joined the NC Chamber and a coalition including the NC Agribusiness Association, the NC Ag Alliance, and NC Grange, along with national partner groups, in urging the Trump administration to direct the EPA to finalize approvals for crop protection products that had already completed full scientific review. Some of these products had been waiting more than two years for a final registration decision despite EPA’s own scientists finding them safe for human health and the environment. Every month these products sat unregistered, NC farmers lost access to tools they needed, American companies faced investment uncertainty, and foreign competitors gained an advantage. The administration listened. The EPA has now finalized registrations for new pesticide products, giving farmers additional tools to protect their crops. American Farm Bureau Federation President Zippy Duvall welcomed the approvals, noting that pesticides undergo years of rigorous testing before reaching farmers and that the new products will help ensure an abundant and safe food supply. This is a meaningful win for NC’s farmers and for the principle that when EPA’s own scientists have done their work and found a product safe, that approval should mean something. We are proud to have stood alongside the NC Chamber and partners across the country in calling for action, and we will continue advocating for the regulatory certainty our farmers need to plan, invest, and compete. |
