From the Campaign Trail

Earlier this week, Braxton Winston, the Democratic nominee for Labor Commissioner, published an Op-ed advocating for more robust unionization efforts across North Carolina, including on family farms. In it, he criticized North Carolina’s right-to-work laws and employers’ ability to fire at will. Further, Winston promoted the idea of increased unionization of government employees, which would only raise taxes and render the government ineffective.

Winston’s continued advocacy against right-to-work laws shows how out of touch he is with the needs of small businesses and farmers across North Carolina. While his woke policies are popular at the “Defund the Police” protests he helped lead, North Carolinians want to be in control of their relationship with their employer. Further, all the top states for business have been right-to-work states; the NC Chamber has said that maintaining our right-to-work status is a crucial ingredient for our attractive business climate.

Winston’s continued advocacy for progressive ideals shows that he is out of touch with the needs of family farmers across the state.
